James ‘Jim’ Sumner Divine

James “Jim” Sumner Divine passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2008, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 83 years.
Funeral services have been entrusted to the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Cushing and will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the First United Methodist Church in Cushing with burial to follow in the Euchee Valley Memorial Park.
Jim was born in Noble County on Feb. 8, 1925, being one of nine children, by his parents Samuel Divine and Georgia (Sumner) Divine. Jim graduated from Pryor High School in 1941 and enlisted in the United States Army Air Force where he served as a member of the flight crew of the B-26 bomber “Flak Bait” in the European Theatre in WWII. Jim graduated from the University of Oklahoma, School of Pharmacy, in 1950. He was the owner of the City Drug Store in Cushing until his retirement in 1993.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Evelyn Mae Divine; two sons, Tom Divine and wife, Karen, of Edmond and Jim Divine and wife, Abha, of Austin, Texas; three grandchildren, Matthew, Chase and Shaunk; sister, Georgia Donohoo of Ponca City; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
