Ethlyn Grace Jackson
Ethlyn Grace Jackson passed from this life to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 18, 2008. Grace Jackson was born on Nov. 15, 1923, to H.P. and Christine (Kirk) Nelsen in Ponca City, where she grew up and attended school, graduated from Ponca City High School and attended Northern Oklahoma College. On July 15, 1944, Grace married Robert W. Jackson in Phoenix, Ariz. In 1953, the couple settled in Blackwell and began a career in the jewelry business which lasted over 40 years with jewelry stores in Blackwell and later in Ponca City. Upon the death of her husband, Robert, July 1, 1991, Grace moved to Stillwater.
Zion Lutheran Church in Stillwater was of special importance to Grace as well as her correspondence ministry to shut-ins and US troops. Other interests include traveling, photography, collecting stamps, researching genealogy and sponsoring participants in the Choices International personal enrichment seminars in Dallas, Texas.
Services are under the direction of Palmer Marler Carberry Funeral Home, Stillwater, with formal visitation from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday in the funeral home.
The graveside funeral service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Prairie Lawn Cemetery in Wellington, Kan., with Pastor Velmer Goebel conducting the service.
The family also invites Grace’s family and friends to attend a memorial service at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2008, in the Sunnybrook Christian Church in Stillwater, with Pastor Paul Anderson and Terry Cline officiating.
She is survived by two sons, Curt Jackson and wife, Lee, of Enid and Brad Jackson and wife, Paula, of Stillwater; two brothers, Howard Nelsen and wife, Margaret, of Ponca City and Dean Nelsen and wife, Diana, of Wichita, Kan.; four grandchildren, Matt Jackson, Ryan Jackson, Peter Jackson and Savannah Jackson; and two great-grandchildren, Haylee Jackson and Kyle Jackson.
Memorials may be sent to Zion Lutheran Church in Stillwater.
