Louis was born to Leo Martin and Margaret Virginia Jardot April 8, 1928, in Stillwater. He went to school and graduated from Stillwater High School in 1945. He immediately joined the Merchant Marines after graduation and was honorably discharged in 1947.

Louis and Betty Jean (Manning) were married Dec. 13, 1945. After being discharged from the service, he worked for Stillwater Greenhouse before building his own greenhouse and flower shop, Flowerland Floral, which he operated for approximately eight years before moving to Oklahoma City to manage Trout Wholesale for one year. A member of the First Christian Church of Pond Creek, he was also a member of the school board for 10 years, the Lions’ Club and the Masonic Lodge for more than 10 years where he was a 32 degree Mason. He also served the City of Pond Creek as a fireman and fire chief and was a member of the City Council for a total of 16 years.

His love for growing flowers and vegetables was his passion in life and he was known, year after year, for his beautiful greenhouse and gardens. He obtained his Master Gardener Certificate from Oklahoma State University and taught courses in horticulture.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law, Bill Aebi.

Survivors are his wife, Betty, of the home; his sister, Betty Curd of Clinton; his daughter, Teresa Aebi of Pond Creek; and three sons, Joe Jardot of Enid, Leo Jardot and wife, Debbie, of McLean, Va. and Ronnie Jardot of Lancaster, Calif. Grandchildren are Todd and Tony Aebi, Troy, Lance, Craig, Ben and Maggie Jardot. Great grandchildren are Emma Aebi and Malorie and Madelynn Smith.

Memorials may be made to First Christian Church of Pond Creek or Hospice Circle of Love.
