Clarence ‘C.D.’ Kesler

Longtime Shawnee resident, Clarence “C.D.” Kesler, 74, died Saturday, May 10, 2008, in Oklahoma City after a brief illness.

C.D. was born June 5, 1933, in Wanette, to Clarence David Kesler Sr. and Ethel (Hardin) Kesler. He graduated from Wanette High School. C.D. married Margaret Farris in 1954 in Asher. He worked at Tinker Air Force Base for 39 years before retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Baptist Church in Asher and the Masonic Lodge of Shawnee.

He and Margaret dearly loved to travel. After he retired, they would travel every summer to different places where they would work. For 12 years they worked at a resort in Cody, Wyo., where they made many dear friends. C.D. loved to square dance, which he and Margaret did for 21 years. He loved the lake and his boat; he was a weekend electrician and he loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be dearly missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Margaret Kesler of the home; children, Debbie Boyles and husband, Stan, of Ripley, Donna Whitmore and husband, James, of Stillwater and David Kesler and wife, Penny, of Shawnee; brother, Bill Kesler and wife, Linda; grandchildren, Kathryn Whitmore, Kindra Whitmore, Jared Kesler and Cameron Kesler; nieces, Kari and Kim; numerous cousins, other family members and dear friends.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Resthaven Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Vanderburg officiating. Inurnment will follow in Wanette Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society or the Diabetes Association.
