Vera Roberts
Vera Roberts, 75, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2008, in Edmond.
She was born Jan. 27, 1933, in Billings, to Cecil and Gladys (Johnson) Grim. Vera attended Billings Schools and graduated high school in Red Rock. She married William Daniel “Rocky” Roberts, June 25, 1950, and had over 50 years together until his death in 2003.
Vera owned and operated a beauty shop in her home. In 1954, their first son, Bruce Alan Roberts, was born. In 1956, their second child William Daniel “Bill” Roberts Jr. was born. Vera lived in Red Rock 12 years before moving to Edmond in 1965. She went to work for the Department of Human Services in 1966 where she retired. She spent most of her adult years being a wife, mother of two boys and working for DHS. She enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, scrabble, fishing and traveling. She was a member and attended the First United Methodist Church in Edmond.
Vera is survived by her son, Bruce Alan Roberts, of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; daughter-in-law, Nuirka Roberts of Tamarac, Fla.; son, William Daniel “Bill” Roberts and wife, Gail, of Stillwater; two grandchildren, Angel Dawn Oakes and husband, Matt, and William Daniel Roberts III, both of Stillwater; three great granddaughters, Lydia Paige Oakes and twins, Macy Camille and Ayla Elise Oakes; brother, Bud Grim of Perry; sister, Ladonna Hodge of Edmond; and several nieces, nephews, brother-in law and sister-in-law and many good friends and what her family calls her “honorary sisters,” Linnie Howell of Tulsa and Ronda Moore of Edmond.
Services for Vera will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Baggerley Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in Memorial Park Cemetery.
