The Stillwater Planning Commission will meet Tuesday to discuss amendments to the land development code.
The changes to the code will add requirements for the location of telecommunication towers. New telecommunication towers must also follow specific guidelines. For instance, they may not be taller than 75 feet and must be a specific distance away from residential areas.
Also, the revised code sates that any telecommunication tower that is proposed to be built on public property must first be reviewed and approved by the city council.
The land development code is actually scheduled for revision in October 2008, but Development Services Director Paula Dennison stated in a proposal that these amendments need to be addressed promptly.
The commission plans to have discussion and take action on this issue.
The commission may also take action on the election of a chairman and vice-chairman and appointment of a board adjustment representative, but planning commission staff has recommended that this issue be tabled until the commission’s Aug. 5 meeting.
The meeting will be held Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Commission Hearing Room in city hall.
