Stillwater Community Band will present its final Stillwater Public Library lawn concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
The band will present classic band works that have made outdoor concerts across the nation a popular event every summer. The band will open with the fast paced March Opus 99 by Sergei Prokofiev. The feature piece is the First Suite by Gustav Holst, written in 1909.
There will be a traditional children’s march to the music of circus band master Henry Fillmore featuring the trombone section.
In “Dinosaurs” by Daniel Bukvich, featuring the percussion section, the band will create the mood of dinosaurs roaming the earth.
The concert concludes with a traditional Sousa march saluting the Boy Scouts of America.
The band is under the direction of Wayne Bovenschen. The concert is free and open to the public.
