Stillwater Arts and Humanities Council will present “Christmas Present” at the 2007 Festival of Trees.
The event continues a series of themes that began with last year’s “Christmas Past” and will continue next year with “Christmas Future.” It will begin at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Wes Watkins Center at Oklahoma State University. Tickets are $50.
Honorary chairmen of the event are Rick and Jan McSwain. Dr. Jonathan Drummond will serve as master of ceremonies, and Gregg Pickens will conduct the bidding during the auction, which helps fund arts and cultural experiences in Stillwater.
The night centers around trees decorated by local artists and businesses that will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. This year, the council has acquired donations of four agency trees, which will be auctioned and the delivered to four community agencies: the Saville Center, Stillwater Domestic Violence Center, Payne County Youth Shelter and the RISE School.
In addition to the live auction, there are 20 silent auction items that are available to bidders. Silent auction items have been donated by local businesses and artists and include everything from art pieces from Stillwater Art Guild members to electronics, holiday decor and gift certificates to local businesses.
The dinner will be catered by Freddie Paul’s Steakhouse.
Stillwater Arts and Humanities Council funds project throughout Stillwater and the surrounding area including Skyline’s musical playground, a book club for local high school students, Stillwater Community Band, Stillwater Community Choir, the first annual Celtic Festival and many dance and musical performances. Some of the groups and organizations that the council has funded this year will provide entertainment at Festival of Trees.
