Annual arts festival starts Saturday
The 31st Annual Arts and Heritage Festival will open at 9 a.m. Saturday in Couch Park, 12th and Alcott.
The festival, organized and presented by the City of Stillwater Department of Parks, Events and Recreation Department, is expected to bring in more than 60 artists, musicians, heritage activities and a children’s arts program.
Stillwater artists participating in the festival include Vonda Evans, whose work is featuring on the official poster and T-shirt; Ken Belanus; Claire Zevnik-Cline; Bob Davis; and Ray Chehrehgosha.
The festival will featuring a variety of art forms, including paintings, ceramics, photography, woodworking, glassworks, jewelry and multimedia compositions. Artists are from Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, South Dakota and Texas, as well as Oklahoma.
The children’s art park will have an entire block of art and heritage activities for kids. Included are face painting, pecking birds, roping steer heads, pony rides, buffalo chip toss, pump cars and a money dig.
Heritage displays, now in their sixth year, will include the Sons of Union Veterans, 2nd Colorado, Washington Irving Museum, Sheerar Museum, Langston University, County Clerk offices, Stillwater Public Library, Dick Tracy Museum, Airport Museum, Jim Thorpe Museum, Stillwater High School alumni, Cooper’s Bicycle and Old Central Museum.
