The 2008 Fraternal Order of Eagles Spring Conference will be held Friday through Sunday in the Stillwater Aerie. Eagle members from Oklahoma will join together to formulate new ideas and projects to further attain the goals and objectives of Eagles throughout the jurisdiction.
Representing the Grand Aerie will be Grand Aerie Secretary Chuck Cunningham. He has been a member of Akron, Portage Lakes Aerie 2736 since 1988 where he has held the offices of treasurer, vice president, president and was also the assistant to the Aerie secretary. He has served Ohio District 11 as treasurer, vice chairman and chairman. He was deputy state president for two years then held all offices in the Northeast Zone before becoming Northeast State Zone vice president. He is presently serving as Ohio State Aerie trustee.
He retired from BWXT Technologies March 30, 2000, with 31 years of service and started his new job at the Grand Aerie April 3, 2000, as the assistant to the grand secretary.
He and his wife, Brenda, have been married for 25 years and have one son and one daughter. Both are members of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. His son joined shortly after his 18th birthday and his daughter joined the Auxiliary three days after her 21st birthday.
He enjoys doing things for the Eagles and traveling. His hobbies are gardening and fishing.
Representing the Grand Auxiliary will be Grand Madam Inside Guard, Margaret Gaddy. She was born in Alabama and moved to Atlanta, Ga., to find a job after high school. She has two sons and two grandchildren (one boy and one girl) who are both Junior Eagles.
In March of 1992, she became a member of Atlanta Auxiliary No. 714. She started off as a trustee and eventually moved up through the seats to vice president. She was elected madam president of Auxiliary No. 714 in 1999-2000 and again in 2006-2007.
She has also gone through the chairs of Georgia State Auxiliary. She became state madam president of Georgia in 2006-2007. She has also served as committee chairman of most all of the charities and helps with the charity drives.
She also loves to contribute items to ladies in nursing homes, visiting, taking baskets, lap blankets, etc. and also the Shelter for Battered Women and Children. She guesses you could say she is all about “People Helping People.” She loves what the Eagles do and what they are.
At the 2007 Grand Auxiliary Convention held in Spokane, Wash., she joined the Grand Auxiliary family. She was elected and is currently serving as grand madam inside guard.
